This is true, but now all four of those frequently-used keys are chorded combinations. Plus, home and end on the Mac traditionally mean start and end of document, not start and end of line. I've hacked the keymaps of some applications to improve this, but it's not a global solution and it's not good for a programmer.

I see you mentioned "home/end behavior," and while I might be misreading your issue with that, the mac (at least on mine mine) has built in support for page up/down and home/end. They can be invoked using the "fn" key and the arrow keys. Page up/down are obvious, left arrow is "Home" and right arrow is "End."

We use AlienBrain. It's okay and has a few nice features, but can be cumbersome and drag a system to a standstill under some circumstances.

This looks pretty interesting for personal use, though.

Well, this must explain why it's so cold outside! ;)

Apple's products tend to be very user-friendly and stable; the latter being a benefit to having preset hardware.

My wife loves her Macbook Pro, but it does help that she's a graphic artist and Macs are very often the choice for them.

If it weren't a work-related computer, we'd have either bought a comparable Windows rig for a bunch less, or a better laptop.

xMarks is interesting and still alive.

the bit.ly preview add-on is very nice too, just because I like knowing where I'm clicking. I think it works for shortening URLs too.

I find myself intrigued by that Aging Tabs!

The compiler is of course set by whatever JDK is installed on the machine running Maven. The plugins used by maven (including the compiler plugin) are prone to be updated in unexpected ways, but yes, you can lock down their version so this doesn't happen.

Which projects have used it? A lot of them. It might be easier, however, to instead find out which projects are published as maven artifacts. There are several places to look and search -- maven central is one. Basically, all the spring projects, hibernate, apache commons, and much more.

Is there a way to lock a compiler version. Once on a SAP project, the compiler/exec was changed. We never recovered.

Minor update: My xbox is still working, so far, after about 10 hours of use. Many resources say that it is temporary, but I'll take it gladly.

I haven't had much, luck, however, with the second xbox I've been fiddling with. It had a slightly different problem, and I haven't been able to make it happy yet.

Note: While ntlmaps works pretty well for apt and the update manager, it has pretty poor performance for general browsing use. Cntlm was written to address the speed side of things, but I haven't tried it yet. See http://cntlm.sourceforge.net/
